The importance of valve blanks

The commonly used blanks for mechanical processing include castings, forgings, profiles, and welded parts. The different types of blanks and the accuracy, roughness, and hardness of the blanks have a direct impact on the mechanical processing process.

When selecting valve blanks, the following factors should be considered:

(1) Material of parts and requirements for material organization and performance: The material specified on the design drawing largely determines the type of blank. For example, if the component material is cast iron, the casting method must be used to manufacture the blank. For steel parts, the mechanical performance requirements of the material should be considered when selecting the blank. For example, parts for manufacturing high-pressure valves should generally be made of forgings or welded parts as much as possible to ensure that the material has good mechanical properties.

⑵ Structural shape and external dimensions of parts: The structural shape of parts is an important factor affecting the selection of blanks. For example, for valve bodies with complex structural shapes, castings should be chosen as much as possible. Large valve bodies can be cast in sand mold; For smaller sizes, investment casting is used.

⑶ Size of production program: The larger the production program of the parts, the better the economic effect of using high-precision and high-efficiency blank manufacturing methods.

(4) Conditions for blank manufacturing: The selection of blank should be based on the on-site equipment condition and process level, and the development prospects should be considered. Advanced blank manufacturing methods should be gradually adopted
